Free Virtual Race with Swag: Bimbo Global Race is Virtual Again in 2023
I used to enjoy this race experience in Orlando. I ran the Global Energy Race in person in 2018, 2017, and 2016. The timing of a 10K in late September was often a perfect fit in my training cycle for a fall or winter half marathon. And it was a fun atmosphere, with lots of free swag and a fun, well-stocked after party for runners.
In 2020, the race went virtual, and it's been a virtual experience each year since then. Though I miss this in person run, it's hard to complain about a free virtual race that actually offers swag, including a finisher medal.
The Bimbo Virtual Global Race (formerly known as the Global Energy Race) is an event sponsored by Bimbo Bakeries to promote health, wellness, and nutrition. The company donates bread to those in need on behalf of race participants.
The race will be virtual again in 2023, and, as usual, registration is free. Runners in some locations, including the United States, will be eligible for free swag. Start your registration process here:
You'll need to complete the miles between September 18 and September 24, and submit your results, in order to receive the goodies. Swag includes a branded crossbody bag, runner socks, and finisher medal. Your participation will also result in a donation of 2 slices of bread to Feeding America by the race sponsor, Bimbo Bakeries.
I've signed up again -- the free swag is hard to resist and it's fun to be part of something so big, even if only virtually. And of course it supports a great cause. This will be my fourth time participating in the virtual version of this race.
