Revisiting Odor Absorbing Charcoal Bags for Shoes: Quarantine Tip
Last year I reviewed these odor absorbing charcoal bags for shoes. I have since ordered more and basically have a set of these inside every pair of shoes I own. They do a great job of keeping my sweaty running shoes stink-free.
I wanted to revisit this product because during the pandemic I find they have an added benefit: critter control. I have been keeping my shoes in the garage to "quarantine" them between runs. But keeping shoes outside the house, especially in a Florida garage, can lead to another potential problem: unwanted guests, like little lizards, insects, and even snakes, hiding in your shoes!
We frequently see snakes in our yard, and our property species list includes Blue-striped Garter Snake, Corn Snake, Yellow Rat Snake, Ring-necked Snake, Rough Green Snake, and Southern Black Racer. A couple of racers live around our garage, and once we found a baby racer inside the garage.
Shoes can be appealing resting places for snakes, as a quick web search will show: snake in shoe Google search.
With the charcoal bags inside my shoes, there's little room for an unwanted visitor to snuggle up in there. So not only are these little odor eaters keeping my shoes fresh, they're keeping my shoes safe and letting me get on the road without having to do a special critter check.
